Our first post

Hello everyone. So this is our very first blog. We got married on the 14th of May 2011 and it was a wonderfully busy day!!! We went to the temple in the morning and then had a luncheon at the Landmark we were rushing the whole day but then we were finally able to slow down when we got to the temple. I just remember seeing James and the Leber crew coming to the temple all carrying one of my items, either my dress, slip, shoe bag and then I forgot my temple bag which my mom had to go get it later. Afterwards we took pictures. Poor Julie was sick during them, it was so sad. We had a wonderful picture taking moment and unfortunately our photographer lost 100 pictures all of the ones with our family! If anyone has an explanation for how that happens I would love to know???? Then James and I went to the Hyatt ( where our hotel room was) and we "rested" and then we went to our PARTY!!!! We got to our reception and people started showing up while I was in my jeans helping get things together. My dress showed up late so I wasn't able to get ready as early as I wanted to but we were able to get out to in the receiving line and it turned out to be such a romantic night. Well I balled during the father daughter dance, my brother caught my garter and his ex-girlfriend/my friend caught the bouquet wow what a night. Then the honeymoon in Hawaii lasted a week and well, back to reality.
Within a month we had to pack everything and move to Louisville, Kentucky because James got accepted and got a scholarship with the University of Louisville in their Law Program. Although we were so excited we were sad to leave the sunny state of Arizona and leave our old lives behind. So with all of our presents still in boxes we loaded a Penske truck and made the 3 day trip to Louisville. We encountered a welcoming rainstorm upon arriving and unloaded our Penske van into a storage unit with the help of Jenny and Jared Armstrong in the rain :( and then slept for a very long time. Although I would love to say we were able to relax, that would be a lie. We got our first apartment which was 3 miles from Jenny and Jared's home and set a move in date. The next day we made the 10 hour drive to Wisconsin to visit my extended family and introduce my husband. We spent a week in Wisconsin and traveled down to Nauvoo Illinois with my wonderful brother David Rothamer and then came back to our new place in Kentucky. Now life really began... These are some pictures of our first year. Some life lesson 's I learned within my first year are...

1.Never put carrot and potato peels down a garbage disposal...

2. Never go to the store when you are hungry, you'll get things that you are
craving and more things than you need.

3. When you leave your husband alone while going to visit your family expect this when you return...
4. If you don't know how to cook before you are married (which Sydney did not) then you will be compelled to learn.

5. Bikes save a lot of money on gas...especially if you are James and ride it in the winter, rain, snow, and shine. He was so happy to get his bike. Oh this is bike number two, we are currently on bike number 3.

6. If you don't have children within the first year of marriage you will adopt.

Molly

Megatron

7. Bob (James' father) use to cut James' hair so now the responsibility was Sydney's. Good thing Bob taught Sydney one time before she  had to do it on her own....

8. If your husband decides to attend law school understand what you are getting yourself into  before he commits! The first year is the worst don't let anyone tell you otherwise!!!

9. One of the things our stake president told us before we got married was one always try to impress each other and two go on dates frequently! So far so good.
fun date the derby museum                                                sydney is impressed

10. We love each other and enjoy Kentucky and are each others best friends!
